Melons…

The juicy, succulent, slightly heavy melons you wish to wrap around your lips and suck on constantly to get the juices out. I am of course talking about the fruit, which is really popular in Japan and is known to produce the most expensive melons in the world. Case in point, a company wishing to celebrate its 135th anniversary decided to buy two melons for 2 million yen, about 19,800 USD, and sell it as well. I mean come on, worst I pay is like four dollars for a melon and its pretty big already and juicy too. I notice that Japanese melons tend to retain their stem, usually in a T shape, weird to me but normal to the Japanese. I will never buy a melon at that price unless I seriously felt like wasting money.
Here’s a vid from Shinchan that illustrates the deliciousness of the melon and the price that at most is 8000 yen or 67 USD. But Shinchan looked happy eating it so I guess its worth it. Ya right lol.

Mmm ya..who hasn’t seen the episode where Homer eats the puffer fish? Well I have and I bet many of you have as well. Well to sum it up, Homer eats an ill prepared puffer fish sushi which led him to his run around on life due to his belief of having only 24 hours to live after eating the poisonous fish. Puffer fish, known as fugu in Japan, is a nice skinny fish suddenly becoming fat, every persons worst nightmare. The fish is poisonous to eat unless prepared properly. Watch the vid and see the wonders of the deadly fish that everyone in Japan loves to eat. I have not personally tried the fish, but I will risk my life to try it in the future.

Well I don’t know how much of you watched the new episode of Bizzare Foods on the Travel channel. I expect about 1/1,000,000,000,000 of the world actually watched it, this number includes monkeys and dogs, don’t ask, I just know. It was an all right episode in my opinion but it could have been better. About half the time he bashed on the food because it tasted too strange or looked weird to him, like sweet potato ice cream with cheese ice cream held in a hamburger bun, who hasn’t eaten that? The grubs he ate looked particularly good to me and the deep fried chicks as well. O well, can’t wait till his next episode when he goes to Morocco to eat, based on the previews I expect plenty of goats and goat brain. Oooo, exciting.

I don’t know if you’ve heard of this guy but his show Bizzare Foods with Andrew Zimmern is one of my favorite shows to watch. Although the travel channel has only shown one episode where he goes to Asia to eat the strangest foods he could find, like in Japan where he ate puffer fish, turtle, frog, and much more. They always seem to show this episode with a glimpse of a Japan show which I don’t mind watching as well. But guess what, he is getting his own show and will be showing a new one next week on February 26th at 9 PM Eastern time. Can’t wait to watch it. Hope you will too.
