Welcome to Chibified. So how did the name “Chibified” become the blog name? Basically it was a idea we came up with based on the love of things chibi, specificity nendoroids, which are the chibi versions (miniature, round, and cute) of anime characters.
My first blog Animesugoidesune was created on blogspot, but around half a year later I decided to move from blogspot to animeblogger to reach a more related community. So AnimeSugoi was born from that move, with all of my old posts/comments. Now I moved what was on AnimeSugoi to Chibified.
I’m an anime fan which probably started as a kid watching what I thought were “cartoons” but turned out to be anime that was dubbed and brought to America. As I grew older I kept watching what was available on TV but with the internet becoming widely available I was able to explore past what I saw on the TV and looked into other anime. Eventually finding out about subbed anime and became addicted to finding a bunch of different anime to watch, and later, manga to read. I primarily like to watch/read slice of life, comedy, shonen, fantasy, and sci-fi genres.
I later found out about figures of anime characters and started collecting them too. Starting off with trading figures to the standard 1/6 to 1/8 figures and of course, nendoroids, all of which range from all types of animes/games. As I looked into the world of figures more, a few blogs I looked at had pictures of figures taken by fellow figure collectors and I wanted to try it out. I started out with outdoor pictures but as of late have been doing indoor shots as I have less time to go out and look for different places to take pictures of. With the pictures I take, I usually make a story out of it based on different situations/angles to play around with my creativity.
I started watching anime in 1997 with Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon and it quickly spiraled from there, though I usually watch what catches my eye and not what is current. I have a preference for shoujo titles, but as long as the show is entertaining and the artwork appeals to me, I’m willing to give it a shot.
While I can’t name my favorite anime and I have multiple characters I call favorites, my number one is without a doubt, Tomoyo Daidouji of Cardcaptor Sakura. <3
Thanks to Sailor Moon, I started collecting anime trading cards, shitajiki (pencil boards), cels, manga and all sorts of other merchandise, eventually getting into Pullip dolls and ball-jointed dolls.
My collecting focus is now on Tomoyo merchandise and cels. I also like Nendoroids a lot. My on and off collections include artbooks, english language mangas (ones that I can actually read ) and DVDs (not just anime!). I also love Hello Kitty but I try very hard to avoid buying things with her likeness because there’s just so much I want. xD
These days though, most of my money goes toward my lolita wardrobe. I’ve been interested in lolita since 2004 after being introduced to it by a friend. It’s a major part of my life and I’ve made some very close friends thanks to it. My favorite brand is Angelic Pretty and I’ve been really fortunate to have met Maki and Asuka, two of the designers. I’m a Maki fangirl. ^_^
