As you know, my morning started off with my three onigiri’s. But today I decided to do a bit of exploring and find everything I could throughout my day.
I was running low on yen and I wanted to leave early that day to go to another hotel to exchange currency as the currency exchange shop near the station was closed until 10 or 11 that morning. Although my hotel gave me a map to get to this other hotel, they didn’t tell me how far and how high this hotel was. It was about a 20-30 minute walk up hill and it wasn’t a gradual slope but steep inclines. I can tell you that going down was much more fun than going up. I also wanted to go there to ask if they do a airport shuttle service as well as my hotel did not.
So I finally reach the top of the hill to arrive at a very nice hotel and get some disappointing news. For one thing, I was told that I as I wasn’t a guest I needed to bring my passport which I forgot back at my hotel and that I also couldn’t reserve a spot on the airport shuttle. So basically I went all the way up and down without achieving anything. Well, I guess I did discover one thing, I would be very tired and a bit grumpy if I discovered I would have to go all the way up the hill with the all the stuff I was bringing back home because I made a reservation over the phone instead of walking to the hotel.
So as I was heading back to my hotel to shower (it was a very steep hill) and rest up a bit since I decided to exchange money at the shop near the station so I had some time to rest, I popped into a Lawson’s I believe to get something to drink and maybe something to eat.
What I ended up getting to drink, after some manly observation, was strawberry milk tea. But I didn’t want it in some ordinary carton, I had to get the one that was bright pink and had Hello Kitty dressed in a cow suit and being surrounded by hearts, sparkles, teapots, and strawberries while holding her paws with mittens on them up to her what should be her mouth area.

Btw, they actually had three different carton designs, though the only difference was how Hello Kitty was posed, so I went with the manly decision to get the cutest looking one. I actually stood there at the drinks area comparing cartons, as this was a souvenir to bring back to Tomoyo as a souvenir as she loves Hello Kitty.
For myself I decided to get a fancy dessert. It was pretty good and I don’t know what to call it but a dessert lover’s dream in a cup. It had a whole strawberry, slice of kiwi, pudding, and a small piece of raspberry cheesecake glazed on top which was all glazed with a light syrup. Right below the top was a creamy layer, followed by cake, and followed by another layer of cream. I can’t remember how much it cost but maybe around 300 yen?

After I exchanged some currency, I left to go to Akihabara one more time and explored the whole town from late morning until late afternoon.
While I was there, there was a idol signing event going on I believe. Lots of people were in front of the Don Quixote and some were even trading picture cards. Not 100% sure who was there but it might possibly be AKB48.

So I looked around for quite a while. Eventually wound up back at the rest area with Moyashimon on the TV. I really like that area as it has a bunch of Moyashimon merchandise on display as well as Moyashimon being shown on the TV. As you can see in the next picture, there’s a whole display of it, which I’ve shown before, as well as the TV on the bottom left hand corner.

That was pretty much my whole day. Exploring the area around my hotel and Akiba. Not much on pictures today but I will make up for it on my next post which have more posts than you can handle, muahahaha.
End the post with a lit up Tokyo Tower.

Oh my gosh! That dessert is really something! Yummy… yummy… yummy… One thing I definitely like about Japan is their presentation for dessert. It looks so nice that you are easily enticed for it.

Ya, they do presentation very well. It’s no wonder it’s one of places in the world where you can go to a dessert buffet lol.
Strawberry milk tea, once again very lucky AS! xD
How does it feel being an Akiba-kei for a day (wow, that rhymes)?

Nice rhyming ^^.
Spending a whole day there can be very exhausting actually lol. I went up and down the main street and backroads to look at all the shops there was and see what they sold. There are a lot of things besides anime being sold there and it’s nice to see what I can find.
The AKB48 theatre is on the top floor of Don Quixote so it was very likely them.

It was a nice sweet taste with strawberry flavor. Haha, manly I am xD.
That dessert looks lovely, when I visit Japan I’m determined to go to one of those cake buffet places that they had in Lucky Star. I hope it won’t be too tough to find places that will serve people with a limited knowledge of the Japanese language.
Tomoyo and I went to a pretty good one last year. It’s called Sweet’s Paradise http://www.ikspiari.com/shop/shops/shopinfo/d18.html which is located in Ikispiari next to Maihama station which is where you get off the train to go to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. They have a bunch of delicious desserts, savory foods like curry and 4 different kinds of spaghetti, and all you drink soda. You don’t need to speak Japanese here to eat. I suggest to go there in the afternoon and not evening time like we did. Although they said they were going to close soon, they close at 10, and I think we got in around 9:20 and their last seating is supposed to be 8:50, we still ate lots of food and they kept bringing out food towards the closing time. We ate lots even before the store closed. Be aware that it’s a 90 minute limit and they want you to clean your plates or they will charge you extra. Take your time to enjoy the deliciousness xD. Pretty good pricing too at 1480 yen per adult.
Bookmarking, thanks for the tip! I may have to start asking you lots of questions the year I’m planning my trip. I’ve already started going through guides of Japan. But there’s probably a lot of benefit to getting tips from someone who has visited your travel location before.

Not sure why, but the link I gave you doesn’t work anymore ^^;;. Here’s a link to all of Sweets Paradises stores http://www.sweets-paradise.com/shop/index.html. They have one in many of the major districts in Tokyo including Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Harajuku.
I will try to answer your questions the best that I can ^^. You can send me an email for any question you have. My email is raving63@yahoo.com
Where was that Moyashimon section?
(I have a relative who’s going to Japan soon and I terribly want the cute Moyashimon accessories . . .)
After you step out of Akihabara Station’s Akihabara Exit (I think), Kotobukiya will be in site on the bottom floor of a building. Go up to the top floor of that building and you will find the display and some Moyashimon gachapon. The display isn’t as big anymore unfortunatly and I think you can find Moyashimon related merchandise in various stores in that building.
A bigger landmark to work off of, the Kotobukiya building is across from the Gamers building.
