Tomoyo and I are well rested now xD. We took a week off to recover from the exhaustion that is a convention lol. Tomoyo had a booth this year so I spent most of my time manning the booth ^^;;. Tomoyo was very busy this year as she had a booth, she was the director of the manga library, and had a Lolita tea party to do. The convention started on Thursday for us as we setup Tomoyo’s booth and she also went to setup on the manga library. Though things never goes as plan when conventions start up ^^;;;….
This is how her booth looked like before we started setting up

As we were setting up the booth, my friend and events director (I was a former assistant events director) came by to ask if I could pick up the manga and other things for the kon as they couldn’t fit them into the car and no one else could pick them up as they were setting up for the convention in their own departments. So I went to pick it up and somehow managed to fit 7 big rectangular containers full of manga, a 40″ flat screen tv, and a couple of rectangular fans into my car and drove off (I didn’t know there was something else in there I needed to pick up, but more on that later). Luckily the distance between the convention center and the storage facility is less than 10 miles so I was able to get to and from pretty fast. After I had the manga and everything else brought up from my car, I returned to help Tomoyo with her booth and later she went to see how the manga library was doing now that there was manga in the room. She finds out the shelving racks for the manga is missing and I get questioned whether or not I saw them at the storage facility when I picked up the manga. I remember looking at the whole storage room and found nothing that resembled shelves though doubt seemed to be cast on me ^^;;;. As I was looking around the convention center for them, I find that they were being stored in a separate room in the convention center. Now that the problem was solved, Tomoyo, her friend, and I kept continuing to setup her booth. As the convention center stayed open late for setup, we were setting up until 10 pm and would need to finish the next morning. This is how it looked that night.

As you can see, the second table is gone. I was actually quite sad that I couldn’t utilize the free table! A dealers booth normally comes with one table and 2 chairs. Any extra furniture will usually cost you more money. I needed to maximize my space and the two tables didn’t allow for me to do so.
As it was getting late and we haven’t eaten in a while due to setup, I took Tomoyo and my brother to a Japanese restaurant called Sushi King that was on the way back home. After 10:30 pm they have a great deal where you get miso soup, salad with miso dressing, a main entree, and sushi for just $8.95. As this wouldn’t be Chibified without food pics, enjoy the following pics lol.
Miso soup

My brother had oyster curry (though this was a different set and didn’t come with sushi).

This was Tomoyo’s teriyaki unagi set with spicy ahi sushi.

This is my ahi tempura set with spicy ahi sushi as well.

Our tummy’s stuffed, we went back home to sleep. I collapsed onto my bed that night and will do so for the next couple of nights lol.
Woah! More delicious food! You’re right, this wouldn’t be chibified without all the food!
Tonkatsu is still my favorite. It used to be Chicken Teriyaki, but for the past few years, Tonkatsu. I still like a good California Roll though. Oh and Prawn Tempura. Mmmm… dang, it’s almost midnight and now I want me some Japanese food!
It sounds like you had a pretty exhausting time at the con, but also sounds like a lot of fun too. You really had to break your back with all that transporting of stuff.I can’t wait to hear the results of your labor!

Just clicked on the Uniqlo calendar on the side. OH MY GOD THAT’S SO RAD!
Immediately grabbed the iPhone app, and the screensaver.

Why do you torture us with such delicious-looking food T.T
All of that for just $8.95 really is a good deal. I don’t live anywhere near the water so anything with seafood in it is crazy expensive.
The booth looks like it’s really packed with stuff, did you guys get a lot of customers?

Something about setting up a booth seems so awesome! It sure looks like a lot of work, but also a lot of fun
I would love to go to a convention called the Kawaii-Kon! Also, delicious food looks delicious!

@radiant: Tonkatsu is awesome :9. Haha, without my labor certain things wouldn’t have happened at the kon. Didn’t know there was an iphone app, thanks for letting me know as I now have it too ^^.
@Nopy: I was going to report on it in the next couple of posts but I can tell you now that Friday wasn’t that great, though it might have been due to the fact that school was still going on that day. Saturday picked up well and Sunday was in between Friday and Saturday for sales.
@Fabrice: Haha, I actually only been to two different conventions but I’ve gone to Kawaii-Kon for the past six years.
@lostty: Haha, lots of work and with different layouts we never know how it will look.
Reading your post just before lunch break definitely makes me hungry. Probably should have Jap food today.

Yea, weekdays usually aren’t a good time for anime convention booths.

The food looks great! So, were you selling things at the booth pictured? Or? Because you mentioned it was a library but that “after” image looks like stuff is for sale.

@lovelyduckie I was a dealer in the dealer’s room, but I am also a director with the convention, in charge of the manga library, which is a little area in a room that is mostly table top gaming. So in addition to setting up my dealer’s booth, I also had to had to make sure the library was setup, so I was doing a lot of running around.
@softz:Haha, interesting to know that we have influence like that xD.
@Nopy: It was better last year when there was a holiday on the Friday of the convention.
@lovelyduckie: The food was delicious :9. Ya, that after image is a picture of Tomoyo’s booth after we finished setting up.
That eel looked really really delicious. Well, I know what I’m going to be having tomorrow. Anyways, I hope you had fun at your event. Sounded like a lot of work but a rewarding experience.
@Yi: Eel is awesome xD. Ya, it’s different each year.
