Yes, 10 years ago today, the PS2 was released in Japan. It doesn’t even feel like 10 years ago does it? To me it feels like less than 5 years ago. Me and my PS2 are buddies xD. We’ve gone through good times and bad times (bad times=PS2 games freezing mid-game and as of late, not being able to run DVDs). I didn’t own a PS2 until a couple years after it came out and it is now replaced by a new PS3 (just got it a couple months ago). Though I need my PS2 in action when I play PS2 games because the PS3 I got is the slim and it’s not backwards compatible when it comes to PS2 and PS games. The PS2 was released in the US on October 26th and Europe on November 24th in the same year as the Japan release.
Do you have a PS2? Any fond memories between you and the PS2? Like the day you bought it, a awesome game story based on a PS2 game, or something else?
If you want to, you can drop a link to a picture of your PS2. Here’s my PS2.

It’s that old? Sounds right I guess. It’s been with me since I lived with my parents and now my second apartment. Looking around my apartment, the PS2 is the oldest thing in it (except the fridge and over, which are my landlord’s). Of course since I had it while still living with my parents it probably would be the older than everything else.

I LOOOOVE my PS2, it’s probably to date one of my best purchases ever. I didn’t have a DVD player at the time I purchased my PS2, so on top of being able to play all my favorite RPGs I was opened up to the magic of DVDs! I still have my first one, and it’s hooked up to my TV right now next to my PS3! yes…my PS3 is one of the newer ones without backwards compatibility

I liked the PS2 mainly for the following games: Final Fantasy, DDR, and Ace Combat. If it weren’t for these 3 series, I probably wouldn’t have played the PS2 as much as I did.

You got your PS2 soon after its release date? Wow then it sure has been 10 years then
I think I got mine a year after you since my first game was Winback (didn’t know why I didn’t choose Onimusha which was just released back then too; may try that game out one day though).
I don’t have many games for PS2, but it’s always a nice asset to have in my room. Now and then my sister would take it away from me when I am away from home so she can complete her Final Fantasy games (ack I still have to finish FFXII). While we’re very likely going to buy a PS3 Slim, the PS2 is going nowhere as I will still need it to play my PS2 games. In addition second hand games for them are getting easier to buy with great prices as people are moving on to PS3.

I have PS2, and this is the best system for me.
Even the graphics is a big loss for nowadays games, PS2 still houses the best videogames ever, I’ve never felt the same again when I played my XBOX360 compared to in the past time I played with PS2.

@super rats: Lol, time passes by pretty fast doesn’t it? Not sure how long the PS2 will stay with me, I might just buy a slim when I move away from home.
@lovelyduckie: Lol, ya, the magic of it being a dvd player is awesome. Good thing the PS3 can play both blu-ray and dvd xD.
@Nopy: Yep, Final Fantasy made it big on the PS consoles. Though now that they have gone onto XBOX it’s not as special. Though I know FF XIII, graphically, is still better on the PS3.
@Q: I got mine a couple years after the release date. Not much interest at the time of getting one lol. TV and the internet occupied my life back then ^^;;. Ya, second hand games are everywhere now. I should probably go out and find a few of the gems out there that I haven’t played but will be able to later when I’m finished with school.
@divinelight: Ya, best system ever.

yup I use my PS3 for my movie player. I use it to watch DVDs, Blu-ray, and stream on Netflix.
