She’s too kawaii for enhancements

That’s what Dan Serafini said happened when he was injured playing baseball in Asia. Dan is free agent baseball pitcher who has recently signed on with the Colorado Rockies. But Dan has tested positive for performance enhancing drugs; he blames a Japanese doctor, whose name has not been disclosed, for the drugs the doctor prescribed to him to help with the injuries he suffered from last year in Asia. He tells the press “I have not taken these or any banned substances since returning to the U.S. and signing with the Colorado Rockies organization in July” (AFP). He also goes on to say that he will never seek treatment again from any overseas doctor and suggests major leaguers should only rely on US-based doctors. Via AFP

Mmmmm….Delicious

I’m not talking about “The Pope,” I’m talking about Derrick Pope who is the linebacker for the Miami Dolphins. “Don’t eat California rolls, and don’t eat shrimp tempura,” is what Pope said which explains his sickness and absence from part of the game against the Steeler’s. He was hospitalized last week Friday with a severe stomach ailment from Japanese food.

World’s largest melon pan has been made

shana

Shana’s dream come true ^^

Finally lol. The melon-pan in Japan was one of the most oishii (delicious) foods that I had eaten. The world’s largest melon pan was made in a bakery in Hokkaido and was made to 11 times the normal size of a regular melon pan (which is pretty big to begin with). The melon pan weights 1 kilogram and is 30 cm wide; the delicious pan can be purchased for 1,500 yen. If you wish, the bakery can make it into a birthday pan (bread) by writing a birthday message on the melon pan with chocolate.

Here’s a look at other foods that have been popularized through anime.

Love and Peace, hehe ^^

Four female police officers in Morioka Higashi Police Station of the Iwate prefectural are sending love letters, whether they be a boy or girl, to troubled children/teens they have come in contact with. The letters are signed “From all those at Morioka Higashi Police Station.” The results of the “Ai no Reta” (Love letter) has had a positive impact in the community.

You know you’re on the internet too much when….

Your parents send you to boot camp. Yes, I said boot camp. A boot camp now exists in South Korea, possibly the first of its kind in the whole world, which is created by South Korea’s goverment to help those addicted to the internet. The boot camp’s main target market is the youth of Korea who have grown up with the internet and can spend up to 17 hours a day on the internet, which includes web browsing, chatting, and online gaming. They would be on their computer all night long and skip school to catch up on sleep. Some would also die of exhaustion from continuous game play that would be days on end.

What Humans Can’t Eat, Cat’s Can’t Eat Either

vlcsnap-19183.jpg

I hold this to be true, for I wouldn’t feed something to an animal that isn’t made for it or that I can’t eat myself. This is in reference to Sora, from Sketchbook, giving Haa-san (the blue and white cat with navy blue stripes and blue eyes, I love blue ^^) expired food when Sora goes out to feed the neighborhood cats. Giving animals expired food isn’t something one should do, unless the animal has evolved to eat expired food like pigs or vultures. But feeding expired food to a cute neko…nuh uh >_<.

Sky Girls-Gone Fishing

vlcsnap-36091.jpg

Everyone needs a break now and then, the Sky Girls are no exception. The girls head out with Togo-san to a river bank to fish for trout using the Tomozuri method. The Tomozuri method is basically having a “decoy” trout at the end of you fishing line infiltrate another trouts territory which causes the trout to go into a defensive stance which diverts its attention away from you and then you catch it. But some people aren’t too keen on the idea of “live” bait fishing.

Smoking in Japan is going down

akibakko-11749211599531.jpg

According to this article from Japan Today, 95% of Tokyo’s taxis will be smoke-free. That is wonderful news and I am glad to see that Japan is striving for a healthier environment. Japan is a country where smokers are a common sight, but the number has been dropping lately with the goverment implementing non-smoking laws in certain areas as well as private businesses, like the taxi companies in Tokyo and eatery’s that limit the smoking area, which is better for those non-smokers and discourages smoking at the same time.
