Recently, Iron Chef Morimoto was in town. He had a few public appearances, among them, book signings for his cookbook, Morimoto: The New Art of Japanese Cooking. AS and I both enjoy the original and current Iron Chef shows on the Food Network, so we decided to go. Originally we had only heard about one book signing in an area where parking was pretty bad, but luckily, the night before, I found out he was going to be at a mall that had better parking and was also closer to us. Meeting Kago Ai

Some time early June, I got word through Twitter that Kago Ai was in the area, so I convinced AS that we had to go down and get pictures and autographs. Unfortunately, due to the last minute nature, I was quite unprepared and in the end, I dislike how I look in my picture and we didn’t get anything autographed because we didn’t have anything good to get her signature on. I didn’t want it on a random napkin, so I didn’t ask for one. I’m regretting that now. ~_~

If her name sounds familiar, she was formerly a part of the machine known as Hello! Project, performing as a part of Morning Musume, Minimoni and W. She was dropped from her agency after a scandal (underage smoking) and is now making a comeback with her new album, AI KAGO meets JAZZ.

I’m not sure if she had any anime tie-ins herself when she was with Hello! Project, but Tanemura Arina has stated that the hairstyle Kago Ai often sported during her Minimoni days was the inspiration for Mitsuki’s hairstyle in Full Moon wo Sagashite.

Japan Trip January 2010 Part 2

It’s always interesting to wake up in another country. Though it’s always hard to adjust to the country’s time when there is more than 4 hours of difference lol. I had a hard time sleeping the night before but when I woke up I was pretty refreshed and wanted to start my first full day in Japan. Though I know most places that I want to go to don’t open until 9 or 10 at the earliest so I occupy my time by going online or watching TV. Watching Japanese television is usually a hit or a miss for me, depends if there’s something that interests me is on like news or weather for the day. Though it’s always interesting to see the late night showings. As I was hungry I decided to stop by the konbini down the street.

This past end of January and early February I decided to go on a trip to trip to Japan by myself.  This is the first time I’ve traveled international by myself but as I have had previous experience traveling and getting around Japan, I wasn’t worried. Kawaii-Kon 2010 Day 4

Last day of the convention came around. After the long days and nights, waking up early, and collapsing onto the bed when I got home the last day had come. You almost don’t want it to end because you return back to your normal life the day after. Although it comes once a year, it’s a time that everyone looks forward to just to hang out, enjoy the entertainment, and just feel happy hanging out with people who share the same interest as you.
